Our Pastoral Team

Most of the Chinese who immigrated to Toronto in the earlier years settled in or around Chinatown. As population increased, many of them moved north, particularly to Agincourt of the City of Scarborough. The Chinese population at the time was estimated to be in excess of 10,000. As a result, many restaurants and grocery stores were established as needs grow. Yet there was not even one Chinese church, and the majority of the Chinese population were non-Christians. Was that not a vast field to be cultivated?

At that time, Philip and Molin Ng, Peter and Faith Mark, my wife and I all shared the burden of witnessing to those in the area. After months of prayer, under the guidance of God, the three families obtained permission to use the premises of Agincourt Baptist Church. Sunday afternoon worship began in January 1979, under the name of Agincourt Chinese Baptist Church. Initial outreach was difficult as there was a lack of financial and human resources. Yet by God’s tremendous grace, we united our hearts and efforts to continuously win souls for our Lord.

In 1986, for health reasons, I was not able to continue my full time ministry at the church. Since then, Rev. Daniel Cheung ministered our church for approximately one year. He was succeeded by Rev. Jones Lo, who motivated the ministry of church building in 1989 and contributed greatly to this ministry. With the united efforts of brothers and sisters, the construction of the new Bridle Trail Baptist Church was completed in 1991. Praise be to our gracious God.

Afterwards, Rev. Galahad Cheung joined us in May, 1993. I deeply believe that God will unite and use all Christians to spread the Gospel and glorify His Name.

  1. The basic beliefs of this body are as follows: We believe that the whole Bible is the inspired Word of God, infallible and inerrant, the guideline for our faith and living.
  2. We believe that there is but one God who exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, all three having the same nature, attributes and perfection.
  3. We believe that our Savior Jesus Christ, in His incarnation, United to His divine nature a true human nature, and so continues to be both God and man, in two distinct natures, but one person, forever.
  4. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary. Being a mediator between God and man, He died on the cross as an atonement for sin and rose again bodily on the third day for our justification. He ascended to the Father’s right hand. He shall come again to judge both the alive and the dead. We believe in the resurrection of the unrighteous unto eternal punishment and the resurrection of the righteous unto eternal glory in the new heaven and the new earth.
  5. We believe that the Holy Spirit, our comforter, leads us to the realization of sin, the enlightenment of our heart, to understand the truth and to lead the believers to sanctification.
  6. We believe that since the Fall of our ancestor, every human has a sinful nature, rebels against God, tends to destruction, cannot be saved by one’s own effort., however God still grants him the freedom of choice in faith.
  7. We believe that man is saved by the grace of God alone, and justified through faith in the Savior. We believe that man will have eternal salvation once he is saved.
